Could on-seers predict this to be true? It has been reported that Michelle Duggar, the middle-aged, 45-year-old mother to 19 children has lost her soon-to-be twentieth child in the second trimester of her pregnancy. With laws of nature and age working against her, the star of “19 Kids and Counting” is one of the 15% of mothers in the United States alone that experience a miscarriage, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“That doesn’t mean a 45-year-old is incapable of carrying a pregnancy. More and more, we look at multi-factoral components in how the egg and sperm unite into that magic transformation to become a person” said Dr. James Woods, chair of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Rochester in New York.
Though the cause of some miscarriages cannot be determined, advanced maternal age can sometimes be a leading factor as well as other conditions such as chromosomal abnormalities and infection.
On Thursday, December 8th, 2011, Michelle and Jim Bob were informed during a routine checkup that their 20th child no longer had a heartbeat. With the doctors advice to allow the miscarriage to happen naturally, Michelle Duggar stated, “I am resting and I have felt good physically, which is strange.”
Duggar was one day over 19 weeks into her pregnancy when she found out the news.
“We named that baby Caleb even though we didn’t know if it was a boy or girl because that miscarriage was early,” said Duggar. “We will name this child and will know that we will see those children again someday in heaven,” she said.
