Weekend Rewind: From Birthday Celebrations to Pregnancy Allegations…Unveiled!

This weekend sparked a burst of excitement with baby news from a few of our favorite celebs. Overall, it was pretty low key compared to a few weekend recaps in the past. Let’s start off with what happened on Friday night, shall we?

1. Baby No. 2 is on its way for the beautiful and bodacious plus size model, Anansa Sims, 33, and husband David Patterson. The couple told PEOPLE about the news of their soon-to-be baby, stating: “We are very, very, excited.” Their newest addition will be welcomed by big sister, Ava, 9-months-old.

Sims confessed, “I am hoping for a boy this time,” although she also stated that she would be “totally fine with Ava having a sister close in age.” The soon-to-be grandmother, Beverly Johnson, 59, is also thrilled about the arrival of her newest grandchild.

“I was excited the first time, but I think I’m more excited this time because you see how much joy Ava brings and how much love you have,” she stated.
Congratulations to big sister Ava, parents Anansa and David, and Grandma Beverly.

2. What do Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have in common? Being awesome parents, of course! The couple seems to have something up their sleeves for their twin babies first birthday. Moroccan and Monroe have grown up so fast and Cannon, 31, has taken notice and wants their birthday on April 30th to be a day to remember.

Nick Cannon will be Okay

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon had quite a scare over the holidays. While vacationing in Aspen, Colorado with their beautiful twins, Cannon began to experience signs of kidney failure and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors described the condition as “acute kidney failure” which is a silent disease that often accompanies other disorders such as diabetes, heart disease, and anemia.

Dr. Madeleine Pahl, chief of nephrology at UC Irvine Medical Center and a specialist in kidney disorders says, “Almost every organ in your body, every system is affected,” she said.  “So you are retaining fluid and you might swell.” This did not stop Carey from hopping into bed with her love and snuggling up by his side.

Although he’s on his way to recovery, Carey asks fans to “please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful.”

First Mariah Carey, now Jessica Simpson

How do celebrity moms tend to look better after pregnancy than they did before having a child? There is no doubt that being under intense scrutiny by adoring fans and the mass media has something to do with how fast these hot celebrity moms whip themselves back into shape. The transformation from pregnancy to slim and trim celebrity mom happens within the matter of months and sometimes even weeks.

It is reported that Jessica Simpson has just signed a deal with Weight Watchers worth an alleged $3 million to be the new spokeswoman. But, didn’t we just see this with Mariah Carey? Carey, the 41-year-old new mother to twins dropped an astounding amount of weight after pregnancy with the help of Jenny.

Simpson, 31, has taken a lot of criticism for past weight gain but now that the Dukes of Hazzard hottie is eating for two she is turning a negative into a positive and taking control. Simpson’s plans to marry fiancé Eric Johnson after having the baby could also be an incentive to lose the pregnancy poundage.

Mariah’s Hot Body is Hard to Miss: A Weight Loss Secret she swears by

It seems like just yesterday that singer, songwriter Mariah Carey gave birth to her twin babies, Moroccan and Monroe. Judging by her post-pregnancy body, Mariah looks as if she is back to her hot, trim self. The singer told US magazine that she was able to successfully lose 30 pounds in 3 months! But how did she shed the pounds so fast? Carey’s secret, the old fashioned way: Diet and exercise… with the help of Jenny Craig of course. In fact, the hot mom was so impressed with her ability to lose weight with Jenny Craig; she became the company’s new celebrity spokesperson. During her appearance on OWN’s The Rosie Show, Mariah explained that most of the initial post-pregnancy weight was gone within the first week after she shed 40 pounds of “water-weight.”

The Rocky Road to Motherhood

Mariah Carey knows the true meaning of the gift of pregnancy. The 41-year-old singer admitted that the road to motherhood was far from easy. In an interview with Barbara Walters, Carey spoke of her miscarriage prior to becoming pregnant with twins and the toll it took on her both mentally and physically.
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon tied the knot on April 30th of 2008, making Nick’s dream a reality. The two have defied the odds of celebrity couples alike and have successfully been able to maintain a happy and healthy relationship. Six months ago, Carey and Cannon became the proud parents of twins Moroccan and Monroe. The road has been rocky for the family but Carey has seemed to overcome every obstacle, even the allegations that arose after giving birth which claimed that she had picked up drinking beer to stimulate lactation. According to Carey, the allegations are false, she stated, “It just doesn’t make any sense. … I didn’t even drink the beer.”
The proud father seems to have the future of his children lined up with education being his top priority. In his interview with Barbara Walters, he said, “Society puts too much on entertainment and entertainers. They praise them like they’re royalty, especially in America, where it should really be about the teachers or the doctors. I want them to be able to sing as beautifully as their mother. I want them to be able to play instruments and everything.  But I want them to get a PhD. The twins are our little geniuses, they can do it all.”

The Baby Shower You Have Dreamed Of

There is no better way to welcome a baby into the world than to have a proper party. A baby shower, in the celebrity world, can be more extravagant than the average wedding, especially if it is themed. Take a look at these celebrity baby showers! January Jones, the soon-to-be mommy had her baby shower along the beachside in Malibu, California. If you like dipping your toes into the ocean and walking along the beach, the beachside themed baby shower might be perfect for you! In attendance was Mad Max co-star Christina Hendrix, amongst many others. On May 22nd folks in Texas showed their country side when they attended Jewels little cowboy themed baby shower. How fitting for a country singer and wife of famous bull rider, Ty Murray. Mariah Carey attended her first ever baby shower at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. That’s right, her first ever shower was her shower! And why wouldn’t Mariah go all out, she is a super-star! Her night started out when she arrived to the shower in a black Rolls Royce, welcomed by guests and life-size stuffed giraffes. Inside were lavish gifts, blue and pink balloons, napkins and a bunch of flowers to make the night beautiful and memorable. Keep an eye out for the next celebrity baby shower; you might get an idea for your own!
