According to Dose, Madonna has no intentions to adopt another baby from Malawi. Rumors circulated the globe about the pop star who wanted to adopt 18 month old Jessica from the same orphanage she found David. Madonna had her heart set on the little girl, and planned to go back for her once David was settled in her family. An Australian couple beat her to it, and are now in the process of adopting Jessica.

There was speculation that the Material Girl would fight the Australian couple for the baby who met Jessica while doing missionary work. The couple released a statement saying, " We are not involved in a 'tug of war' with Madonna. During Madonna's time in Malawi, she did visit the orphanage where this little girl is currently being cared for. Jessica was one of many children that Madonna spent time with and she has no intention of adopting Jessica … That's about where the story begins and ends. It is not an easy journey to decide to adopt or to travel the road to adoption and we are just thankful our lives are able to go on without the scrutiny of press she is subject to.''
