Australian Model/Triathlete’s Baby Dies in Accident
15 12 2006Kerry Lucas was frantically screaming for help. She was saying, 'Where's my baby! Someone's stolen my baby!" But the 5 month old baby was not stolen, his stroller tragically plunged into the Adelaide's River Torrens while his mother, Kerry, was answering a phone call.
The baby was rescued after being in the water for 20 minutes. Before rushing him to the hospital, the paramedics resuscitated the baby for 25 minutes. He later died at the Women's and Children's Hospital.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Ms Lucas, an Australian model and triahlete, explained that she was jogging along the track when she stopped to take a phone call and write a phone number on her leg, because she had no paper.
"'I was writing a [phone] number down and when I turned around the baby was gone. I just feel so stupid."
Holden Hill detective Mick Fisher said that police had not ruled out the possibility of foul play and that another person may have been nearby at the time of the child's disappearance.
