Every year we try to commit to a New Year's resolution. Your's might be to eat healthier, try to loose weight, or pay off credit card debt. Brad and Angelina's New Year's resolution is to help Cambodia with more aid. They dedicated the entire year of 2006 to helping charities and people in need. They spent their Christmas with refugees in Costa Rica, and now Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have a new mission for the year 2007. 

During a visit to their son Maddox's homeland, the couple pledged to broaden the scope of the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Project (MJP). Jolie started the project over four years ago as a conservation initiative and has named it after her son.

Millions of dollars have been donated by the couple who've teamed up with Dr. Jeffrey Sachs and his antipoverty organization, Millennium Promise, on an economic-development program in northwestern Cambodia. Seventy MJP workers will work with Sachs's group on activities. These projects include rice planting, distribute bed nets which help to fight malaria, offer school meal programs and provide medicines for clinics.

"We have learned so much," Jolie tells People, "and I think we are on the right track."

In November, the Brangelina family traveled to the capital city of Phnom Penh to visit the Maddox Chivan Children's Center. February marks a year since the center was opened with substantial financial assistance from Jolie. The facility is set up to care for kids affected by tuberculosis and AIDS.

"They arrived and just couldn't hold enough kids," says Anne Goldfeld, cofounder of the Cambodian Health Committee, which operates the center. "They were very natural, very real, very respectful and very interested. We wouldn't have been able to do it without her."

So what's in store for the upcoming year? Angelina and Brad are hoping to boost Cambodia's economic development by encouraging tourism. "We hope people will travel to Cambodia," says Jolie. "The people there have overcome so much."

"It was incredibly moving to visit my son's country," said Brad when he spoke about their travels to Cambodia.
