Baldwin Criticized For Nasty Comments

23 04 2007

Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, 53, divorced in 2001. Since, they have had joint custody of their daughter Ireland, 11. However, Ireland lives with her mother in Los Angeles to attend school and Baldwin lives in New York. For the last three years the couple has been fighting over custody of Ireland but since she lives so far away, for now, they have scheduled phone calls.

Well, Ireland missed the last schedule phone call and daddy Baldwin got angry and left some nasty messages on the answering machine. According to TMZ, Baldwin, 49, lashes out at his daughter for missing a scheduled phone call, saying she was a "rude little pig" and threatening to "straighten your ass out." "You have humiliated me for the last time," he tells her.

According to People, Baldwin's rep says the actor "acknowledges that he should have used different language in parenting his child" but that "everyone who knows him privately knows what he has been put through for the past six years." Basinger's rep said, "I think the voicemail speaks for itself," and declined further comment.

Since the incident even people on Baldwin's own Website are criticizing him, along with the newspapers. It is rumored that his fans are turning against him since the incident. However, there are some that are supportive.

Baldwin isn't allowed to see Ireland until their court date on May 4. The actor's rep, Matthew Hiltzik, told the Post that the actor will follow the judge's orders, and said: "Alec truly cares about the best interests of his daughter."

This is all very interesting. The more I see on this issue, the more I realize that I to, have been subject to
alienation. Over 21 ago years ago, I went through a divorce. Battling the courts, lawyers, judges and of course, her.
Not seeing my son on a regular basis, in and out of court, losing jobs from missed work and borrowing money from my
parents to pay court fee’s, attorney bills, all ended some 8 yrs later when I got a letter stating, “I no longer had
rights to my child”. No visitation, ever again! While I at the time lived out of state, child support came out of my
checks, letters came to my home and as well documents to my employer. Some how, I never received letters, news paper
clippings asking for “A LOST PARENT” I quote, just a letter telling me I no longer had rights! The child support was
haulted by the courts and no longer came out of my checks. Like many men, I would go to see my son, only for the door
to not be opened, hearing my little boy scream for his daddy, crying, and her yelling at the top of her lungs at my boy
to be quiet. Having the police called, me being told to leave “there is nothing we can do you have to take her to
court”. Like anyone, receiving a letter almost 8 yrs after battling anger, hate, guilt, thoughts of suicide, losing my
home, ruined credit, starting to drink heavy to hide my pain, battling to hold a job, constant calls from my ex, sending
letters, pictures, and asking for birthday gifts and Christmas gifts. That letter brought closure! Almost like death.
As sad as that sounds, I wasn’t held accountable for something i didn’t do any longer.
Though the letters and pictures to my mother never ended over the years, i wasn’t told about them, due to the pain
and suffering of living with the years past. At my sons age of 17, (7 years later) I received court papers, for back
child support. That’s right, BACK DUE child support! $26,000 dollars worth. Those papers were for a with holding order,
after the fact. I then had a new family, new life, bills like the rest of us, and now faced with problems of not being
able to pay and support my new family and child. I hired one of the best attorneys, to handle my case. In his words, “I
can beat this case”. I wasn’t prepared for what the course of the next year and a half was going to bring her and I.
Borrowing from parents, and nearly $30,000 in attorney fee’s later, the judge looked around the court room while my
counsel argued my case, twisting his pen, as though he were waiting on the next case. I’m sure of this, He never heard
more than 5 words from my attorney! My case was ruled, I had to pay the BACK DUE support, for a child the He, ordered,
I have no rights too! My wife at the time, talking with counsel, agreed to take my case to the Kansas State Supreme
Court. Borrowing some $10,000 from my mother to file the case and of course, research to do so. The supreme court system,
would NOT hear my case! Claiming, they would not over rule a district judge’s ruling. As you can imagine, my marriage to
her failed soon after all this. All the horror’s from years earlier were back! All the anger and the feelings I HAD to
hold back to survive and coexist, were back ten fold. My son is now, going to be 24. I have seen him 2 times since he was
2 years old, both times in court, her fighting just to stop me from seeing my own son. This is a success story, Her
success! I wonder often times, what failure looks like? Married and divorced now, I’m a great father to my other kids,
and just for the record, they call me Superman. I even have the tattoo. Never ever spanking a child, I have to live with
the fact that I lost a child, to the court, for nothing! Absolutely nothing! Who is the real criminal?
