Newborns really seem to act as splints when it comes to healing fractured family relationships.

Usher's new son, Usher Raymond the fifth is no different. He's given his grandma the warm fuzzies, even though Johnetta Patton's relationship with the RB singer had been strained. Usher fired Patton as his manager amid feuding between her and his then-girlfriend, now wife, Tameka Foster. Patton reportedly did not approve of the relationship, which caused them at first to scrap their planned wedding. Usher and Foster eventually married in secret on August 3. Patton was not invited.

But grandma seems willing to let bygones be bygones.

She calls her new grandson "a precious gift from God," according to www.boston.com.

"I'm extremely excited and filled with joy about the birth of my grandson, Usher Raymond V. He is beautiful, precious, healthy and such a blessing. I'm very happy for my son and his wife. God has truly blessed them with a special gift. This will be an amazing holiday season for all of us," Patton states.
