Dad-to-be Joel Madden has been forced to put the brakes on Nicole Richie's nosiness about the sex of their baby.

Richie tells Access Hollywood that Madden's constant support and refusal to let her out his sight has stopped her from finding out whether they're having a boy or a girl.

"(It's) been a lot harder on me than it has on Joel because I'm so nosy. I like to know everything. If he wasn't at every doctor's appointment, I probably would have found out by now just behind his back and not told him," the formerly-skin-and-bones Richie declared.

The couple is also reported to be unable to come to an agreement on a name.

"I figure I'll be in the hospital for at least a day, so I'll figure it out then," she said.

And unlike Halle Berry, who took 35 pregnancy tests before getting a positive result, Richie says after five positive tests, she was still so reluctant to believe she was pregnant that she made her best friend take the test too and then compared results to make sure hers was genuine.
