Countess Nixes Princess Pregnancy Rumor
12 12 2007Princess Diana's stepmom, Countess Spencer, is insisting that, contrary to speculation, the princess could not have been pregnant for boyfriend, Dodi Fayed when they were killed in a Paris car crash in 1997.
Speaking at the ongoing inquest into fatal accident, Spencer said Princess Di would not have become pregnant outside marriage as she was "brought up in a quite old-fashioned way," AFP reports.
Mohamed Al-Fayed, the father of Diana's boyfriend, has claimed that she was pregnant at the time of the smash. He believes the crash was a plot by the British government.
Countess Spencer said her stepdaughter was "deeply and blissfully" in love with Dodi Fayed, but that she was unlikely to be pregnant.
"I don't personally believe she would have considered it. It would have been out of the question for her," she insisted.
She added that Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip were both "extremely nice" to Diana, despite Al-Fayed's claim that the prince was involved in a plot to kill her.
The couple died along with driver Henri Paul, whose blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit, in a high-speed crash in Paris on August 31, 1997 while being pursued by press photographers.
