Born with Flashbulbs in their Eyes
14 12 2007When a celebrity gets pregnant or gives birth, it's big news. When two of the hottest, A-list celebs get together and reproduce, it is the stuff of wall-to-wall paparazzi coverage!
Shiloh Jolie Pitt, the genetically gifted daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, became a celebrity while she was in utero, so it should come as no surprise that she's snared first place on the brand-new Forbes list of influential Hollywood bambinos! (How's that for star power? Your parents are named the hottest Hollywood couple and you are the hottest Hollywood kid! Shiloh will be getting sound bites the minute she starts talking.)
But back to the list. OMG reports that Forbes examined both Web presence and press clippings for more than 50 celebrity offspring 5 years old and younger, over the course of a year. The shortlist was then sent to E-Poll Market Research to determine awareness data for the kids and consumer-appeal rankings for their celebrity parents.
One year old Shiloh appeared in more than 2,000 articles over the course of the year! The daughter of the other hot Hollywood couple, 1-year old Suri Cruise (daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes) came in second place. Shiloh's sister Zahara snagged the #3 spot and brother Pax, 4, held firm in fifth place. So the whole Jolie-Pitt brood is in the top five, with the exception of Maddox, whose age disqualified him from the competition.
The rest of the Jolie-Pitt brood isn't far behind.
The number 4 spot went to a kid who deserves our sympathy, since his presence on the list is due to his mom's infamy. We're talking about Sean Preston Federline, who managed to survive his mother Britney Spears' irresponsible driving habits.
And while the kids can sometimes suffer the sins of the parents, it works the other way around too. Some stars up their popularity quotient once they settle into a cozy family unit.
"[Suri's] completely resuscitated Tom Cruise's career," says New York Bureau Chief of photo agency World Entertainment News Network Jill Stempels, "and it's kind of humanized him."
But forgive us if we fail to shed a tear when celebs start whining about flashbulbs being shoved in their kids' faces, as Brad Pitt did recently. After all, Brangelina copped a cool $4.1 million for giving People magazine first photo rights to the newborn Shiloh. To Brangelina's credit, the money was handed over to charity.
And OK! magazine gave Larry Birkhead $2 million for exclusive first photos of daughter, Dannielynn, who ranked at #7.
Yes, we do find celebrity kids fascinating, for a variety of reasons. We at celebritybabies.info would love for you to share your reasons with us!

Ok so these kids are mini celebs because of their parents. But reality is they probably don’t know that yet and as long as they are allowed to be themselves without press intrusion later they will be ok. It’s nice to see a multi-cultural family in the photo, even if it is a bit contrived. But hey, at least those kids have got a home.
@ Jon,
Good point! BTW what do you think about Angelina’s views/treatment of Shiloh (Monday’s entry)?
