Badu’s the Best She Can Be, Thanks to Kids
11 02 2008Musician, Erykah Badu, says her sound remains essentially the same. The only difference is, her children have elevated her music to a "higher frequency."
The 36 year old R&B singer has two children, 11-year-old Seven with Outkast's Andre 2000, and 3-year-old Puma, who's dad is West Coast rapper, D.O.C.
"In the past, I did things in my own time, own speed and in my own way," she says in an interview with Clutch. "When you have other people that you are responsible for, you have to create more options for yourself. My children motivate me to move and to be a good example of me . . . to be the best me I can be."
The soulful Badu drops her latest album, New Amerykah, on February 26. Her music hasn't changed, she says. "It’s still me. I’m not saying anything differently; I’m just saying it at a higher frequency. As I’ve grown, my music has grown. It’s like higher vibrations, without the same mistakes."
Motherhood. It does a celeb career good.
