Adoption News: Willie Garson & Nathan

Actor Willie Garson is finalizing the adoption of Nathan, an eight-year-old boy he met in Los Angeles! Originally, Garson (also known as Stanford Blatch from Sex and the City) was planning on adopting a toddler, according to TV Guide Magazine, but met Nathan at an adoption fair and fell for the “cute and sweet” boy.

Now, as they finish the process of adoption, Garson and Nathan will be moving to New York for Garson’s work. The two have lived together since February, with Nathan adjusting well in school, friends, and sports. Garson also encourages Nathan’s relationship with his biological mother. However, a major adaptation for Nathan will probably be Garson’s celebrity status. I think he’s going to be freaked out when we go to New York, where [the SATC cast] are like the Yankees,” Garson jokes. “We can’t walk 20 feet without being mobbed.”

Madonna’s Family Grows

Madonna won the right to legally adopt a daughter from Malawi!

Madonna met Chifundo ‘Mercy’ James at the Kondanani Children’s Village in 2006 while working to adopt baby David Banda. Earlier this year she returned to Malawi to adopt Mercy, but was turned down because of Malawi residency requirements. Madonna appealed and the news has been following the trial, and finally Malawi’s highest court has granted her request! Madonna’s Malawi lawyer Alan Chinula informed an ecstatic Madonna at 2 a.m. Friday. “It’s the early hours in New York now but my client has been awake all night waiting for this,” Chinula told People.

Three-year-old Mercy should arrive in New York on a private jet soon, after paperwork is settled. She will join fellow adoptee toddler David, also three, plus Lourdes and Rocco. “She’s ecstatic - over the moon. She made a promise she wouldn’t give up on Mercy, and she can move mountains when she’s this determined” a source close to Madonna told The Sun.

A Boy for Tom Glavine!

Pitcher Tom Glavine and his wife Christine have adopted a baby boy! Kienan Patrick Glavine joined the four other children in the family a little over a month ago. Kienan joins Tom and Christine’s two sons, Peyton Thomas and Mason Riley, plus Tom’s daughter Amber Nicole and Christina’s son Jonathan to form a family of seven.

With a newborn, Tom and Christine are not receiving a lot of sleep, but that’s okay for them, Tom told MLB.com. “It’s fun. I enjoy it. Chris enjoys it. In the long run, it will keep us young. It will keep me in the carpool for a long, long time. You can’t ever say that I’ll be bored.”

Adoption Is The Way For Nia Vardalos

46-year-old Nia Vardalos adopted a baby according to E! Online. My Big Fat Greek Wedding star her husband, Ian Gomez, adopted a baby girl several months ago but they are just coming out with it now. The only information that we know about the baby is that she is under 5 months old.

According to a statement from Vardalos’s rep, “They are going public now to bring attention to National Adoption Month and the 500,000 children in foster care. Of these children, 129,000 are ‘legally free’ for adoption and waiting for a family.”
