Beyonce and JayZ Talk Baby Plans

25 02 2010

Beyonce opened up to Allure magazine about her baby plans with Jay-Z. It's been two strong years since Beyonce and her rapper beau Jay-Z have been married, but she has always said in interviews that she isn’t ready to pop out babies yet.

Both the pop star and rapper's careers are booming right now.  It seems ideal for the couple to start thinking of extending their family success. “I definitely want to have a child, but I know from my nephew it’s a lot. I hope that those things will just happen naturally. I still haven’t had time to relax,” she tells the magazine. The ‘Single Ladies’ singer also talks about her alter-ego, playing card games online and her good girl reputation. “Trust me, I’m not at all, but it is hard living up to people thinking that about you,” Beyonce says of herself.

Exclusive Celebrity Interview With Musician Rebecca Martin

20 11 2008

I was recently able to catch up with Rebecca Martin, musician, mother and community organizer for a phone interview last week. As she has been very busy with a 21 month old son, releasing a record and organizing a neighborhood civic group, we were excited to catch her in between projects. I first asked Rebecca to tell me a little about herself. For people who don’t know her, Rebecca has been involved with music her entire life and moved from Maine to New York City to follow her music career a few years back. She has recently released a new CD, “The Growing Season” and is enjoying all aspects of being a new mom to her son, Charlie James.

Celebrity Babies Blog: When did you decide on Charlie’s name and did you have any other names picked out?
Martin: Charlie James was born in December 2005. We both knew he’d be a “Charlie” before he was even born though added “James” to ground the name. As my parents were antique dealers, I had many antique items in the attic and happened to hang an etching of a baby in a cradle over his crib. Upon looking closer, I found that “Baby Charlie” had been etched in to the piece. I knew then that I’d definitely chosen the perfect name.
Celebrity Babies Blog: How are you adjusting to life with a baby? How have you changed?
Martin: Having Charlie deepened my experience as a woman. The journey is unique and different for every mother. I was lucky to have a small and fantastic support system and a community of friends having babies at the same time around me. Being a mom has made me more flexible as a person. Charlie needs both structure and freedom to flourish, so I work to create a “disciplined structure” per say for him to move out in. A contrast, I know, but they go together. I encourage Charlie to be creative and free. Raising him has taken the focus off of myself.
Celebrity Babies Blog: After Charlie’s birth, did you make any changes in your personal and social life?
Martin: The experience of becoming a mother is very cocoon-like. The new feelings of love, the life changes and responsibilities have transformed me completely. After Charlie’s birth I just wanted to be around him so I stayed in my bed at home for a while. It’s terrible that maternity leave in America is only three months. That’s just not enough time to give a mother with her new child. I was just getting my sea legs at three months. I’d like to lobby new legislation one day to extend it to a year. At least.
Since Charlie’s birth, I’ve also developed a broader sense of the world and I’ve deepened my own commitment to being a more responsible human being. Charlie is being raised in the garden, at soup kitchens, caring for animals, being outdoors and in the woods exploring. Very similar to my childhood in fact in the woods of Maine.
Celebrity Babies Blog: Did you have a lot of experience with children before you had your own?
Martin: In a word, no. I’ve always loved children but have been consumed with work and my own path throughout the past few years. Becoming a mom has me so present, that I can enjoy the simplicity of things. I find that now I take the time to appreciate the little things that make Charlie happy.
Celebrity Babies Blog: What is more stressful, managing a music career or being a new mom?
Martin: As a new mom, anxiety was more of a problem to manage then anything else. It was an overwhelming feeling to drive out of the birthing center with a 7 pound baby in the back. My husband is a great partner and friend – and very active in taking care of Charlie. Of course, I was able to call my mom too.
Celebrity Babies Blog: What’s the one baby product you can’t live without?
Martin: I love Welleda’s Diaper Cream – it is the best! Will clear up any kind of diaper rash. Also, I use Born Free glass bottles for feeding and had good luck with Seventh Generation Diapers. I was drawn to Seventh Generation diapers because they are made without chemicals. Plus, they fit Charlie pretty snugly and didn’t leak!
Celebrity Babies Blog: What is the one piece of advice you can give to a new mom?
Martin: Hire a doula! It’s the best money I ever spent! Throughout, they will explain what is happening as it’s happening and advocate for you during the birth. They work great with your partner at home or at a birthing center and/or hospital – whichever one you may choose. It’s comforting – and I don’t even want to think about how the day might have gone without her (Mary Riley, serving the Hudson Valley area in New York State).
Celebrity Babies Blog: For the upcoming holiday season, what do you think would be the perfect gift for Charlie James?
Martin: Without a doubt, the 5 piece Today’s Tot Drum Set!
Celebrity Babies Blog: What is the most important lesson you want to share with your son?
Martin: I want to teach Charlie that nothing in life is disposable and that the choices we make, even the smallest of ones, matter. I want him to grow up with a strong sense of worldly awareness and responsibility. And I want him to know and feel that he is deeply loved.

Thanks to Rebecca for taking the time to share her experiences with us. We wish her the best of luck with her music career and family!

Exclusive Celebrity Parent Interviews - “Celebration of Babies” Event

3 10 2008

The March of Dimes “Celebration of Babies” event was held on September 27th, 2008 at the famous Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA was a fabulous event! The charity luncheon recognized some of the most prominent individuals who are celebrating the birth of their children and who are role models for the March of Dimes.

Mamarazzi caught up with various celebrity moms and dads in attendance who were not only excited to celebrate the mission of the March of Dimes, which works on improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality, but to talk about their role as parents.

This 3rd annual Celebration of Babies luncheon included a luxury boutique, silent and live auction, and an awards ceremony honoring Dr. Lisa Masterson of the television series “The Doctors” and Dr. Peter S. Waldstein, one of Hollywood’s most sought-after pediatricians. George Pennacchio, longtime entertainment reporter for ABC7 Eyewitness News, known throughout California, served as Master of Ceremonies.

Special thanks goes to Diana Bianchini, from Di Moda Public Relations, this years Event Chair, for not only the opportunity to support this heartwarming charity first-hand, but to meet with a great group of celebrity parents making a difference for hundreds of thousands of babies nationally.

Continue to check our blog for photos and highlights of interviews from this gala luncheon, obtained exclusively by celebritybabies.info!

Let’s start with the host of this year’s event, actress Jennie Garth. The picture you see is of Jennie and her good friend Patrice at the event.

Jennie Garth skyrocketed to stardom with her role as Kelly Taylor on Beverly Hills, 90210 and has reprised her role as Kelly in the new 90210 series which deputed this September. She has starred in various television roles and made-for-television movies, and most recently was a crowd and fan favorite as she competed on ABC’s hit show Dancing with the Stars. Jennie and husband, actor Peter Facinelli have three daughters.

Interview Highlights – Jennie Garth

Question: “What is the best advice you can give to new moms?”
Jennie’s response: “Sleep when the baby is sleeping! Otherwise you get too exhausted and you are no good to anyone.”

Question: “How are you doing with everything – having three beautiful girls, juggling full-time motherhood and full-time career – what do you do to take a break and relax when you get overwhelmed, (which by-the-way we all get overwhelmed)?”
Jennie’s response: “When I’m overwhelmed, I really don’t think about the “taking a break” part, that’s the problem. I used to bake, but that’s too much work now. What I like to do when the kids are all asleep is watch T.V. for about 30 minutes or I read a book, I’m really into reading novels right now. Just to have some quiet me time, because at the end of the day, my head is just buzzing with the chaos and noise and activity all the time – there never seems to be enough quiet, and everybody just needs some “quiet time”.

Question: “And what about your advice for Dads”?
Jennie’s response: “Who? No, just kidding. I tell my husband ‘Go out - get away’. Sometimes I have to remind my husband just walk away because it’s a lot to handle, and if I see my husband getting frustrated I tell him to go watch T.V. or play pool or cards.”

Interview Highlights – Melissa Joan Hart

Melissa Joan Hart is an actress and director, best known for her role as Sabrina, in Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. She has had a career in show business since she was just three years old. She is married to musician, Mark Wilkerson. They have two sons, Mason, 2 1/2 and Braydon, 6 months old.

Question: “Tell us a little bit about your involvement with the March of Dimes.”
Melissa’s response: “Well this specific event, Celebration of Babies - I was honored two years ago as a Stork Club Member, which honors celebrities that had healthy babies that year and I recently had Mason. My friend, Kellie Martin’s (actress known for her roles on Life Goes On, and ER) mom was running the event and I started to get involved and have been on the committee ever since. We meet at least once a month, and talk about babies, and baby’s health and the mission of the March of Dimes. We hear stories of our friends and other moms and you realize how many of your friends have actually benefited from the March of Dimes, when they were in the hospital and gave birth to preemies and its amazing and they (March of Dimes) really makes a difference, and you really see that. Especially at events like this.”

Question: “As a busy mom, and active actress, how do you do juggle it all?”
Melissa’s response: “Well luckily, now that I have two kids, I have a wonderful nanny. I have to give her major credit. She is like my wife. She reminds me to drink my water, and keep healthy. But you know it really takes a village. My husband is such a hands-on daddy, he is there for every naptime, he is the one who wakes up early every morning so I can sleep in, he feeds them breakfast, he is there for every bath and almost every meal. Our nanny really helps us out especially when we have to go on location to shoot, she has become part of our family. And my mom and my sisters and my best friends, Kimmy and Kellie – they are always around with their kids and we can get together and let the kids run around in the backyard – all is good!”

Celebrity Interview-Kris Jones

8 09 2008

One of our own local celebrities, Kristopher Jones, welcomed a baby boy a few weeks ago. Kris is the President and CEO of Pepperjam.com located in Wilkes-Barre, PA. We interviewed him to see how life with his new baby is going.

Pepperjam is a full-service internet marketing agency recognized by Inc. Magazine for two consecutive years as one of the fastest growing privately-held businesses in the United States. They provide a broad service offering of professional account management and enterprise-level technology across the key online marketing channels of search-engine marketing, affiliate marketing, and online media planning and buying.

The first question I asked Kris was to tell me a little about himself and his company.
As we all ready know, he is the President and CEO of Pepperjam.com. They have clients such as DKNY, Roca Ware, Playboy.com, Baby Phat, and the list goes on. The company was founded in 1999. It is the 2nd fastest growing company in PA. In 2004 they had 2 employees and now they have about 125.
Kris is 32 years old and grew up in NEPA. He has a Bachelor of Arts from the Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Science from Villanova University, and a Juris Doctorate from Albany Law School.

How are mom and baby?
“Awesome!” Kris Jr. is sleeping between feedings, non-finicky, well-behaved, and loves to be fed.

When was Kris Jr. born?
August 13, 2008

Why did you decide to name him Kris Jr? Did you have any other names picked out?
The name was his wife’s idea and he thought of that as a thrill and honor.
If the baby was a girl, they were thinking about Gionna.

How are you and your wife adjusting to life with a baby? How have you changed?
“My wife is a superstar. She has the most responsibility.” They are adjusting well and looking forward to the future with him. He can’t wait to play sports with him.
They feel fortunate to have a healthy and perfect baby.

How has this affected your social life? How well are you handling that?
Only 2 weeks in…
It has put a damper on his social life because he travels a lot around the world. But that will start back up soon and hopefully he can take his wife and Kris with him.

How is your dog Roxy adjusting to the new addition?
“That was one of our biggest concerns.” The dog is surprisingly protective. They had no problems at all and feels safe. The baby and Roxy are best friends.

Did you have any experience with children before your baby?
“Absolutely.” His best friend has 2 kids which he has watched grow up and his sister has a 6 ½ month old baby.

Does the baby go to play at the “Pepper-Plex”?
Today was the first time. They have been taking him out more.

What’s the one baby product you can’t live without?
Swaddler
His wife’s answer would be the Rocking Chair he got from BabyAge.com.

How many diapers do you go through per day and have you signed up for EZ delivery yet?
“Probably about 6-10.” He does have EZ delivery diaper service.

What’s more stressful: being the President/CEO of Pepperjam or being a new parent?
“It is more stressful being a CEO of a fast growing company then a father.”

Do you hope that Kris Jr. will follow your legacy at Pepperjam or are you open to him following his own path in life?
With no hesitation Kris said, “His own path with out a question.” He wants Kris Jr. to take advantage of all of the opportunities he has in life.

Do you plan on having more children? Any time soon?
“Absolutely!” He hopes to have 3 or 4. He and his wife Robyn (who also works at Pepperjam) want them within a year and a half of each other. Robyn is 30 years old and they want to stop by the time she is 35.

What advice can you give to new parents on preparing for a new baby?
Dads: “Be there for your wife because she is taking the brunt of the responsibility.” Step up, wait on your wife, and take care of the things that you take for granted.
Also, parents should talk about going out without the baby so they can continue to have a life.

Thanks Kris for talking with us about your new addition. Congratulations to you and your wife!

1st EVER Celebrity Parents Interview-Dan and Candi Spitz

22 04 2008

Recently, Mamarazzi was able to do the first EVER celebrity interview with Dan and Candi Spitz. Dan Spitz is a three time Grammy nominee and the former guitarist for the popular thrash metal band, Anthrax. He and his wife Candi have Identical/Mirror Image Twin boys named Brendan Alan Spitz and Jaden Michael Spitz, born May 29, 2007. Dan also has two teenage daughters, Julia and Lianna.

Check out the interview below to see what the happy couple has to say about their family and their new twin boys.

Telling the twins apart:

Dan: I can’t tell them apart. Candi writes their names on the car seats, and she does those little pads that go in the shoulders. Those are the only clues I have. The mirror image thing makes it completely freaky.

Candi: I am able to tell them apart. It’s more of a motherly thing. Personality wise they’re completely different. There are a few (physical differences) here and there. Jaden has a birthmark on his calf, so Danny can tell them apart–if he can find the birthmark!

Names are Critical:

Candi: We assumed the twins would be a girl and a boy, or two girls. On Dan’s side, he has two daughters from his first marriage, and all nieces. On my side, there are all nieces. We’d not had any history of boys for 30 years! So we picked out two girl names and I picked up one boy name just in case.

The first day after Christmas they did an ultrasound and they told us it was two boys. We didn’t believe it. It wasn’t a very thorough ultrasound, so we said we would wait and do a 4D ultrasound. In mid-January, we had the 4D ultrasound, where they shoot the video and you can see them on the TV screen on the wall, playing inside, it’s the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen. And it was very clear there were two boys. They were identical. There was a very thin membrane between them.

We had to start brainstorming for a second boy name very quickly. I gave Danny a list of five names that I would be happy with and he picked Jaden’s name out of the list. I went my entire life being very particular about the fact that, if I ever had a child, it would have a perfect name that wouldn’t classify what they would do for a living.

My mom was a singer and she just assumed I would be a singer, so she had a very unique name for me. I always said I would never have my kid prejudged. If they wanted to be a musician, or an artist or a Congressman, I would have a nice, neutral name.

I spent most of the pregnancy coming up with general names that really had no meaning, except that Brendan’s middle name is Danny’s middle name. They’re just nice, generic names—which I guess is rare for celebrities—but nice, generic names so they could have any future they wanted, and not hate me later on for giving them a horrible name!

The Nightmare of Double Cases of Colic:

Dan: We had such a difficult time with the twins. We had almost six months of colic, and when we say colic, we don’t mean three hours of the kids screaming. They’re identical, they’re mirror image, and we had approximately 16 hours of screaming almost every single day. The only time they would ever stop is when they had a bottle in their mouths. It was certainly louder than any amplifier I’ve ever had on any stage, anywhere. This is A1 on my list. I am going to concentrate on spreading the word about what it is, what we went through and what others go through.

It’s not normal screaming. It’s horrible. It never stops. We had a really rough time with them. People couldn’t even come over. That’s how incredibly bad it was. It’s not normal colic, let me stress that again. And I’m definitely going to do something about it. Because no matter where we went, from doctor to doctor, they just laughed and said “there’s no cure.” Some people think colic is stomach related, some think its nervous system related. We know exactly what it is because we had identicals that had it. And then, straight from that, they went into teething, which is quite difficult.

Trippy Mirror Imaging:

Dan: Because Brendan and Jaden are mirror image, their teeth come in on opposite sides of their mouth. And it’s the same tooth. Their hair goes opposite ways. Each kid’s right hand is exactly the other kid’s left hand. Every time they take a nap, it’s back to back and opposite. It’s beautiful and weird all at the same time. And when they watch TV, one is at a 45 degree angle one way, and one is at a 45 degree angle the other way. Or if their backs are to the TV and something comes on, they both spin their heads around in opposite, mirror directions. And we just laugh. It’s better than watching TV, for us.

It started when they were very young. I looked in the crib and said, ‘Candi, look, they’re sleeping but they’re back to back.’ We didn’t think anything of it. No one in our family has twins. You can’t have mirror image twins with fertility drugs. It just has to be a blessing.

Candi: We didn’t even know what mirror image twins were. We didn’t know they existed.

Dan: It just adds to the fun, and my daughters (teenagers, Julia and Lianna) enjoy that. They’re not nine-month-old little babies we have here—they’re half the size of me and Candi already! Lately, all you hear is Candi saying “Get off your brother, you’re killing him, you’re choking him.” You think they’re nine years old and outside with their skateboard. I’m hoping by this time next year they will have their bicycles and be at the end of the street playing with each other.

Road Trips, Religious Traditions and Rituals:

Dan: One of the main things Candi and I have in common is that we both feel most comfortable when we’re on the road, moving.
The only time we found them comfortable was when we took a road trip. We’d put them in a car seat and drive to Cleveland, for 8-9 hours, and they’d be looking outside, all smiling and happy. So I guess that will be our family trait. We’ll be on the road somehow, with them, someway.

Candi: One of our traditions is making chocolate chip pancakes. The boys love them! Right now were kind of still figuring the whole twin thing out. Our house looks like one big, giant playroom. We don’t have a normal life at this point. We’ve pretty much secluded ourselves at home with the kids, trying to figure out how to best handle two.

Danny comes from a Jewish Family and is now a born-again Christian, and I come from a Christian background, so for holidays were doing a little bit of both. We want them to grow up knowing their Jewish faith as well as the Christian faiths. At this point, we don’t go overboard with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

Music in their Blood:

Candi: With twins, being that I am so tiny and they were such large babies, I would have to be at the doctor’s office, three to four times every week. I’m the type that has to blare the music and sing aloud in the car. We used to laugh because the boys, to this day, still respond to the same songs I would listen to in the car. Like Chris Daughtry. In the womb, they would start kicking when Daughtry came on. And when Nickelback came on. Mainly male singers.

But at home at night I would do the headphones on the tummy with classical music and lullabies. And they would just lay there. I don’t know if they were asleep, because they never responded.

We have one already that dances. Every single time. It can be a song or music from a toy; if there’s a song on, Jaden stops what he’s doing, and finds the rhythm. He’s a human metronome. He gets right in time, finds the rhythm and then starts rocking to the beat.

Dan: I started teaching my younger daughter guitar now. I don’t force it on them. She actually came to us. And I plan to do the same with the boys, except they’ll both learn all the same instruments and be able to switch them, so no one will be able to know who’s who and what’s what!

Already Celebrities in their own Right:

Candi: Since the article in Celebrity Babies Blog, the twins signed with a really big agency, which is wonderful. The boys are still with TwinsTalent, that’s their manager, and they’re also represented by Carson Kolker, one of the top children’s agents. He does mostly soap operas, Broadway.

When we found out it was identical boys, we knew we had to put them in the industry, because identical twins are so rare. But we had an agreement that we would put them in when they were little, and if they choose to do it, when they’re able to make that decision at three or four, that’s their decision. If they don’t like it, we’re not going to continue to do it—if they choose to play all day, that’s fine.

They love people. They never went through the whole ‘stranger anxiety’ phrase. They love the camera. They would have their picture taken even at four or five months old. JC Penney took their picture and had to put it up in their studio. They couldn’t believe twins would actually smile at the same time and actually like the lights and the flashes.

We lucked into a really great group in TwinsTalent. It’s run by mirror image twins, which is how we actually found out that Brendan and Jaden were mirror image twins. They’ve been enlightening us more and more about what it is like to be a mirror image twin, and how rare it is. They were up for a soap opera the week before the writer’s strike, but that fell through. Now they’re casting for catalogs. They can’t rely on Daddy’s fame. They have to make a name for themselves.

Baby Products They Can’t Do Without:

Dan: Fisher-Price’s Soothing Glider. It should be the first thing anyone with two babies buys. That’s the greatest invention ever. It works. They nap in those all the time and it’s always back to back, and opposite.

Candi: Yeah, it’s the greatest invention. I’m tiny, 5’2, 90 lbs. Mommy can only hold them so much at the same time. And with the colic, they needed that extra attention. Danny tried to do as much as he could, but it was too hard for him with the non-stop screaming. He couldn’t take it, anxiety-wise. With the gliders, I was able to put them down and sit between them on the floor with my arms around them both. They thought they were being held and being rocked, and it calmed them down. They pretty much lived in the gliders for the first four-and-a-half months of their lives.

Twice the Work:

Candi: I don’t know how these celebrity moms manage to juggle their careers and motherhood. Like Julia Roberts, Marcia Cross, with two babies, trying to work—I’m completely floored, because motherhood is a full-time job. I would never have believed that 24 hours a day I’m in baby mode. To get anything accomplished for myself or for Danny is pretty much impossible!

Dan: I just found out from Candi recently that she went to college for her Masters Degree in Cleveland. She lived the next town over from Twinsburg, and actually shopped in Twinsburg. That’s something she could’ve told me. “I did live near that water that runs in Twinsburg.”

We will keep you updated on the twins as they grow up. Seems like the Spitz’s don’t have a lot of time and will need to use BabyAge.com’s new diaper delivery service!

Thanks Candi and Dan for the interview and we look forward to hearing from you and watching your children grow up.
