Nicole Richie ans her boyfriend Joel Madden started a new foundation that will help mothers in need. It is a new online gift registry that will launch in the fall called the Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation.

In an exclusive interview with People, the foundation advisor Bruce Richman said “Nicole saw that even a clean blanket was out of reach for some of these new moms so she wanted to figure out an efficient way to connect them with companies and individuals who want to help.”

Here’s how it will work: Families will sign up through local social service agencies. A list of baby products they need – such as cribs, strollers or blankets – will be posted on the Web site. Donors can view the wish-lists and choose what to contribute (much like a wedding or baby gift registry). Every product is checked for safety and all products are BPA-free.

Harlow Winter Kate is one happy baby, always smiling and laughing, says dad, Joel Madden.

The Good Charlotte rocker tells Us Weekly that his two-month-old baby girl with Nicole Richie "smiles a lot."

"She always wakes up every morning laughing and smiling and it's the best part of my day," he revealed. Madden says Harlow "is an angel, and we are really blessed to have such a healthy, happy baby".

New mom, Nicole Richie, will use her pregnancy as inspiration to design her own line of maternity clothes.

The 26-year-old actress, who gave birth to Harlow Winter Kate on January 11, is reportedly meeting with a top clothing company to discuss the venture.

"Nicole is determined tobring  out a line of clothes, with the focus being on maternity wear," a source reveals. "Her line is going to be clean and simple, with emphasis on clothes that flatter the figure without drawing attention to the fact the wearer is pregnant."

The clothing line will probably de-emphasize the wearer's bosom. Richie has complained about her post-pregnancy breasts, saying they make the vintage, hippie, see-through shirts she favors look "slutty."

Nicole Richie's dad, Lionel has his "fingers crossed" that his daughter will marry her baby's daddy, Joel Madden.  

"This guy is so in tune with Nicole — I love him to death," Lionel said on Ryan Seacrest's radio show this morning.

The proud grandpa, or 'G-Pa,' as he referred to himself, says Harlow is the "sweetest, most beautiful baby." "Nicole's kid is amazing."

Nicole, he said, "has turned into a full-fledged mom. It's the most frightening thing in the world because you keep thinking, 'Are you going out?' And [she's like], 'No, dad, can't go out! She has another feeding — I have to be right here!'"

Good Charlotte rocker, Joel Madden, is thrilled about the "motherly glow" that Nicole Richie got since the birth of Harlow Winter Kate Madden a month ago yesterday.

"She's a wonderful mother and she looks really hot already," he says of Nicole. "The girl is gifted, man. Women hate her because she looks good being pregnant and then has the baby and looks sexy. There's something so attractive about her now. It's a motherly glow."

According to Madden, Harlow is very attached to her mom, but his turn is coming.  She's "definitely a mama's girl," the rocker told PEOPLE . "Right now she needs mom because all she does is eat. I have a feeling that when she starts talking she's going to be a daddy's girl."

Madden, 28, spent his first night away from his new daughter on Friday. He was in Las Vegas performing as a deejay, a gig he agreed to because the club donated its door proceeds to the Richie-Madden Children's Foundation. 

"It's really hard being away from her. I think after having Harlow we are already in love with being parents," he said. "It's cool to watch Harlow with Nicole because they already have a real special bond. It's cute. I have my own little bond with her too."

Little Miss Richie Madden, the inspiration for the Richie-Madden Foundation, came into the world Friday, according to Usmagazine.com. Nicole and Joel had a baby girl, Harlow Winter Kate Madden. Very pretty name, that is, inspired by the 1930s blonde bombshell, Jean Harlow.

The rep for Richie-Madden told the magazine that Harlow Winter Kate was born Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. She weighed 6 lbs., 7 oz.

Since becoming pregnant, a more socially-aware Nicole and Madden have launched the Richie-Madden Foundation to assist kids in need.

Christina shared the maternity ward with Nicole. On Friday, she,too,was relieved of her massive belly bump. Star magazine says her little boy arrived at 4 p.m. and mom, dad and baby are doing well.

Also joining the mommy brigade for the first time Friday was Courtney Thorne Smith, 40.

She had a baby boy as well, named Jacob Emerson Fishman.

On Thursday, funnyman David Allan Grier and wife Christine Kim welcomed their baby girl, Luisa Danbi Grier-Kim.

Joel Madden's and Nicole Richie’s first baby is due “within the week.”

At least that's what Joel's big brother says. “That’s all we know,” Joel’s older brother Josh told reporters at the FUZE/Resolution Slenderize bash in Hollywood Wednesday night.. “We don’t know what [gender] it is. We don’t know any names. I’m being completely honest, I swear!”

Nicole Richie managed to successfully kick her nicotine habit through hypnotherapy (a route mom-to-be Lily Allen is now trying.) 

So Richie, who's set to give birth any moment now, has started hypnotherapy sessions to help her face her upcoming labor. She reportedly hired the same hypnotherapist to infuse her brain with calming, peaceful thoughts of no pain as she prepares to welcome her new bundle of joy. 

Good luck, Nicole. Hang in there. You forget the pain once you see the baby, anyway. 

P.S. - She has really gained little weight, except in her midsection, hasn't she?

Joel Madden had to rush Nicole Richie to the doctor the day after Christmas, after she became dizzy and disoriented.

Coming right before she's due (which could be anytime now) the episode naturally caused quite a scare in the Richie Madden household. Fortunately, both mom and baby checked out ok.

A source told Star magazine that Nicole's heart had been racing. "She was swearing and had the terrifying feeling the world was crashing in on her. She was scared to death that her baby's health was in jeopardy. Thank God Joel was there to take care of her," the source reveals.

This isn't the first scare for pregnant Nicole. Five months ago, she suffered heavy bleeding and had to be taken to hospital.

Doctors have told her to slow down and take it easy until the baby's born. A newly socially-conscious Nicole has been making the rounds trying to bring cheer and material assistance to needy kids through the Richie Madden Foundation.

"She's been going at a frantic pace for months. Her body let her know it was time to slow down and make the baby's health her top priority," the source states.

The sex of the baby isn't even known yet, but Mischa Barton hopes the child born to her best friend, Nicole Richie, will be a future rock star.

PR inside reports that Barton presented Richie with several T-shirts, featuring legendary rock bands like the Rolling Stones and AC/DC. 

"I got her a bunch of rocker tees for the baby, with different types of logos of rock bands on them and she loved them," says Barton.

Although rumors are rife that Richie and boyfriend, Joel Madden are expecting a boy, Barton says she deliberately avoided gender-specific colors because no one knows the baby's sex.

Yesterday, she and her hubby took their philanthropy to the next level, launching the Richie-Madden Children's Foundation in honor of the couple's baby, due in January. One hundred needy moms and moms-to-be at the LA Free Clinic were presented with $200,000 worth of goods by Richie and Madden and the couple were amazed and delighted with the response they got. Well if you were in financial straits and Santa Claus came early, you'd be over the moon, too!

Part of the Foundation's mission is to bring "meaningful opportunities to children in all corners of the globe, while also striving to bring light and laughter into their lives through unique entertainment and special events." It also hopes to build awareness of issues such as "health care, nutrition and education as they impact disadvantaged children and families in the U.S. and worldwide." Awesome! They totally rock! Maybe the decision to launch the foundation also had to do with the fact that Madden went through his share of financial hardship. His father left the family when Madden was 16 and he took on several odd jobs to help out the family.

Richie, meanwhile, says she wants their child to "grow up with the value of sharing and to inspire generosity in others. We hope our access to the media will help us change focus from the trivialities of our lives to more meaningful issues.”  Snarky!
