Kate Winslet Tells Family: “You’re going to Hollywood!”

What do you do when your a mom of two and you've been nominated for an Oscar? You turn it into a family vacation!
Kate Winslet and husband Sam Mendes took this years opportunity to take Mia and Joe to Hollywood. Winslet was nominated for her role in Little Children. She told WENN, "It's half-term (vacation) for my kids, so it made sense to turn the Oscars into a family holiday. We've been swimming and done lots of visits to places the kids loved. Sam has babysat while I've tried on my frock and sorted out what I'm going to wear on the night."

Oscar winning actress & mom Kate Winslet has announced her desicion to take a year off to be a full time mom. Kate, 31, has two children, Mia, 5, and Joe, 2. The actress has said that playing the role of a cheating wife and preoccupied mom in "Little Children" helped her realize what was important in life. She stated "It was such a cathartic experience to portray somebody who can't cope with her life that it reminded me how much I need my own children." She then went on to say "That's why I've decided to to take a year off to be with the kids and watch them grow and just enjoy the feeling of being very motherly." Kate feels like she is making the right desicion and is still being offered new roles after making three films in the past year. It's clear the actress feels she will have no problem returning to work, stating "I've done enough good work in my career not to be worried or torn about not working." "My life is very good and I need to switch off from movies and just be a parent for a while." Kudos Kate! We'll see you in a year!
