Location: Syracuse, New York, USA
Awards: Nova Award, Golden Globe winner, and 3 Grammy Award nominations
Height: 5 ft 7 in
Status: Married to Katie Holmes (2006 – Present)

Cruise’s family resided in near-poverty, because Cruise’s father would not pay child support after his estrangement from the family when his son was eleven. Cities in which Tom lived included Ottawa, Ontario (where he attended Colonel By Secondary School), Louisville, Kentucky, Winnetka, Illinois and Wayne, New Jersey. In all, Cruise attended eight elementary schools and three high schools. He briefly attended a Franciscan seminary in Cincinnati and aspired to become a Catholic priest. He eventually graduated from Glen Ridge High School in New Jersey in 1980.

He was abused as a child by his father and bullied at school. At the age of twelve, he dropped his father’s last name. Cruise started acting after being sidelined from his high school’s wrestling team due to a knee injury. While injured, he successfully auditioned for a lead role in his high school’s production of “Guys and Dolls” and decided to become an actor after his success in the role.

Counted as one of the most successful movie stars in Hollywood, he is the only actor to have six consecutive $100 million plus blockbusters on his resume. Cruise teamed with producer Paula Wagner to form Cruise/Wagner Productions, which has co-produced several of Cruise’s films.

In 1990, 1991 and 1997, People magazine rated him among the 50 most beautiful people in the world. In 1995, Empire magazine ranked him among the 100 sexiest stars in film history. Two years later, it ranked him among the top 5 movie stars of all time. In 2002 and 2003, he was rated by Premiere among the top 20 in its annual Power 100 list.

In 2006, Premiere magazine established Cruis
e as Hollywood’s most powerful actor, as Cruise came in at number 13 on the magazines 2006 Power List, being the highest ranked actor. On 16 June 2006, Forbes magazine published ‘The Celebrity 100′, a list of the most powerful celebrities, in which Cruise came top.

Cruise was married to Nicole Kidman, they adopted two children, Isabella and Connor. He was then romantically involved with Penelope Cruise. Later he started dating Katie Holmes and 2 months later he proposed (after jumping on Oprah’s couch). Soon after, the couple got married in Italy and eventually had baby girl, Suri.

Cruise is arguably Hollywood’s most outspoken member of the Church of Scientology. Also,he earned his pilot’s license in 1994 and owns a World War II P-51 Mustang and Pitts Special S-2B stunt plane.

Cruise is active with charity. Working with his industry, they raised over $150 million for 9/11, and works with an AIDS nonprofit organization.

Acne is a skin condition that causes pimples to form on the face, neck, back, and shoulders. These areas are naturally more oily than other parts of the body, so they are a natural target for acne. Acne is most common in teenagers because hormonal changes at puberty cause the body to produce more oil or sebum. This sebum combines with skin cells to clog pores, trapping bacteria and causing pimples to form. It tends to be more severe in boys than girls because testosterone causes more sebum production than estrogen does. Most teenagers grow out of acne in time. The key is to care for the skin properly until hormones balance and the skin stops breaking out.

Acne occurs in adults, too. Whether it’s teen or adult, skin with acne is sensitive and needs special care. Choosing the correct body wash for your skin is important. Here are some top picks for the best body washes for acne-prone skin:

Some Final Words on Acne

Acne is not caused by chocolate or french fries or any other kind of food. That is a myth, probably started because teens with acne just happen to like those foods. It’s possible for a person to be allergic to a certain food and react with a skin rash, but not acne. The most important things you can do to keep your skin clear of acne are to keep it clean and keep your hands and fingers OFF your face and neck areas. Without realizing it, you touch your face many times a day, and your fingers contain millions of bacteria. Since bacteria are closely involved with acne, it’s obvious that you don’t want even more bacteria on your face. Train yourself to keep your fingers away from your face. If you must touch your face for some reason, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and hot water. Otherwise, only touch your face at washing time, with hands that have been thoroughly cleansed.

Adult acne is troubling and puzzling. It usually has a hormonal cause. Acne can appear in women due to an imbalance of the hormone testosterone, which is normally present in women but only in small amounts. If this small amount gets too high, then acne can result, because testosterone causes the skin to produce more sebum, or oil, which is a major player in the development of acne.

NEVER pick at your acne! Never try to squeeze the pimples. You will only cause irritation, even more redness, likely make the pimple bigger, and worse, permanent scars could result. Instead, treat your skin gently and use a cleansing product that works for you. Always use your clean hands and fingers to cleanse your face; never a wash cloth. The cloth will irritate your acne. Use only a special moisturizer that is labeled non-comedogenic. This term means that it will not block pores. If you wear foundation, choose only oil-free brands. Apply makeup and foundation with clean, freshly washed fingers. You can use a makeup sponge, but only if you use disposable ones. Use a fresh sponge every time. Reused makeup sponges collect and breed bacteria. Keep your skin as clean as possible.
